Campus Berlin-Buch GmbH is developing the international campus together with the research institutions as an innovative and sustainable science and technology location. With its reputation, the campus is the heart of Berlin-Buch, a location of future innovation.

Campus Berlin-Buch in the northern part of Berlin is an innovative science, health and biotechnology park where companies and institutions conduct basic and clinical research. Among the features unique to the campus are the clear focus on biomedicine and the closeness of the institutions to each other both spatially and with regard to scientific interaction and collaboration.

BiotechPark Berlin-Buch

The BiotechPark Berlin-Buch is one of the largest biotech parks in Germany. It offers founders and companies in the biotech sector circa 45,000 m² of state-of-the-art lab and office space at moderate prices. Start-ups can grow and thrive in the Innovation and Incubation Center; building sites on campus allow for future development options. Integrated into the health location of Berlin-Buch, the BiotechPark provides an ideal environment for life science companies. Excellent biomedical basic and clinical research coupled with clinical expertise has a long tradition here. The campus atmosphere facilitates the exchange of know-how, technology transfer and joint projects.

Science

Berlin-Buch is recognized internationally for its excellence as a location for science. Decisive for this are the Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (MDC) and the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) as well as the Experimental and Clinical Research Center (ECRC), which is operated jointly by the MDC and the Charité, and the Berlin Institute of Health (BIH). The ECRC and the BIH are specialized in clinical and translational research.

Lab spaces for young companies

The BiotechPark Berlin-Buch offers founders and companies in the biotech sector circa 45,000 m² of state-of-the-art lab and office space at moderate prices.

The BerlinBioCube incubator center for start-ups offers a total of 8,000 square meters of space on five floors for modern laboratories, offices, and common areas for daily encounters and exchanges as well as conference rooms. The new incubator center completes the BiotechPark. Areas close to the campus, which were defined in the framework plan for the southern section of Buch (Buch Süd), are slated for further expansion.

Berlin BioScience Academy

The Berlin BioScience Academy helps young scientists navigate their careers and enter the pharmaceutical and biotech industry. The academy offers in-service training on current trends in the life sciences for technical and laboratory assistants.

Life Science Learning Lab

As a non-school learning center with six laboratories, the Life Science Learning Lab (German name: Gläsernes Labor) offers more than 20 experimental courses in molecular biology, neurobiology, cell biology, ecology, radioactivity and chemistry for secondary school students. Today, up to 12,000 students attend the courses every year.

Campus to Explore

Experience research firsthand when the institutions of the Campus Berlin-Buch open their doors each year for the Long Night of the Sciences. A program for the whole family awaits, featuring hands-on activities, laboratory tours, workshops, lectures, guided walks, a live quiz, and interactive information booths. Engage in conversation with scientists and be inspired by the fascinating world of biomedicine.

In the early 1930s, one of the most modern laboratory buildings of its time was constructed here for the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Brain Research, laying the foundation for today's biomedical research on the campus. This history can be explored in the Science Museum, complemented by an exhibition of historic microscopes.

The CAMPUSart project invites visitors to follow several self-guided tours, offering the opportunity to discover the campus's art, scientific heritage, or botany at their own pace. The artworks include numerous sculptures throughout the grounds, as well as an exhibition featuring works by Jeanne Mammen. Busts of distinguished scientists who shaped the campus stand in front of many of the buildings, and a dedicated walking route is devoted to their legacy.
