we cordially invite you to the next concert event "Music meets Science"

This concert series presents interesting insights into research at the Max Delbrück Center, embedded in a setting of classical piano music. This time we are looking forward to the pianist Noelia Rodiles and a lecture by MDC scientist Dr. Uta Elisabeth Höpken.

The Spanish pianist Noelia Rodiles will open the evening. Noelia completed her musical training at the music academies of Avilés, Madrid and Berlin and took part in various masterclasses, including with Daniel Barenboim. Noelia Rodiles performs regularly as a soloist in major concert halls and orchestras and has received several awards for her work. Critics have praised her as a "versatile pianist with a truly admirable musicality and refinement". On 12 April in Berlin Buch, she will perform compositions by Joseph Haydn, Gabriela Ortiz and Franz Schubert.

The scientific part will be led by Dr Uta Elisabeth Höpken, head of the research group “Microenvironmental Regulation in Autoimmunity and Cancer” at the MDC. "Bringing new therapies to cancer patients faster and helping those affected" is the scientist's main motivation. The title of her lecture will be "Designer immune cells against cancer". Tumour cells look for niches in tissue in order to grow and multiply. Uta Höpken studies how they migrate through the body and interact with other cells in their niches. She wants to use this knowledge to train therapeutic CAR-T cells to recognise and kill cancer

The lecture will be in German. We can translate questions and answers spontaneously on request.
