Senior Research Associate Analytical Chemistry

04.01.2022 / Silence Therapeutics is a rapidly growing clinical stage biotech company exploiting the power of mRNA technology to develop new medicines in areas of high unmet need. In the past 12 months, the company has doubled in size, signed a multibillion-dollar platform deal with AstraZeneca, opened a New York office, listed on NASDAQ and gained designation as ‘Best Place to Work’ in the UK and Germany. Our 2 clinical stage compounds currently in development are based on GalNAc targeted siRNA, and we are expanding our capabilities through the use of extra-hepatic targeting ligands and a growing in silico modeling suit built upon our rich history of biological experiments. Due to the growing number of projects and our continuous advance in clinical development, there is a need to broaden our expertise in analytics for starting materials and drug substance.

Role Overview

As Senior Research Associate in Analytical Chemistry, you will be joining our analytical laboratory working full time. You will be supporting the Molecular Design Team by identifying, characterizing, quantifying and assessing the purity of oligonucleotide and oligonucleotide conjugate drug research substances and metabolites thereof. In addition, you will assist in the development of HPLC-MS and HPLC-UV methods for siRNA molecules and siRNA conjugates

You will be responsible for sample preparation, measurement and data reporting. You will also, together with other group members, be responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of the instrumentation. In collaboration with your colleagues, you will ensure that the laboratory runs in a timely manner and that the instrumentation is handled according to our best praxis procedures. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Performing routine analysis.
  • Plan, conduct, and document experiments outlined by a scientist.
  • Record all data and results in specified forms with accuracy and integrity.
  • Collaborate in the shared responsibilities of the analytical laboratory.
  • Maintain analytical instruments and take care of the general laboratory organization.
  • Organize and store chemical substances.

Personal Specifications

The Senior Research Associate in Analytical Chemistry will be able to demonstrate the following competencies and behaviours:

  • 3yrs professional experience in a relevant field preferred
  • Experienced in the use of HPLCs, preferably with MS detection.
  • Expertise as laboratory technician or relevant position would be advantageous.
  • Expertise in MS-Office data analysis and documentation.
  • Motivation and interest in acquiring new knowledge and in expanding your technical background.
  • Interest in accomplishing work with precision and accuracy. 
  • Interest in collaborative work. 
  • Fluent in German and English.
